Pseudogout and Its Remedies

Pseudogout is a disease which is often mistaken for the gout which is a sort of metabolic arthritis. Pseudogout is also a type of arthritis but it is not gout though the symptoms and the treatments of the gout and the pseudogout are almost of the similar types. Pseudogout is a type of arthritis or inflammation caused because of the build up of the Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate crystals in the body. Like the gout, in pseudogout also affects the large joint areas. The affected areas become red, swollen and stiff. Warmth is felt when touched. The attack of the pseudogout can last for a few days just like the gout attack.

In almost 75 percent of the gout case, the primary affected area is the big toe but in pseudogout the affected areas are the large joints areas of legs and arms. Gout is caused by the accumulation of the high uric acid crystals in the body while the pseudogout is caused by the accumulation of the Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate crystals.

As earlier said the treatment of the pseudogout is similar to the treatment of the gout. In treating the pseudogout the main focus is remained on relieving the pain in the joint areas. Several types of non steroid and anti inflammatory medicines are used to reduce the extreme pain that felt in the joint areas. The NSAIDs drugs like the Ibuprofen or the Motrin and Advil, Aleve and Indocin are used primarily to treat the disease.

But using the NSAIDs drugs cannot be without some side effects. Some severe side effects like the stomach bleeding, hypertension and kidney malfunction can be occurred with the medicines. This is the reason why the patients of the pseudogout should always consult to the doctors before they go for using any medicine. The patients should know about the side effects that can happen to most of the common adults after using the NSAIDs drugs.

Colchicine is another medication that the doctors prescribe to the patients who are not suited for the NSAIDs drugs. The drug helps in alleviating the pain, swelling and the tenderness of the skin. But it can also cause some side effects like vomiting, diarrhoea and stoamch pain. Sometimes bleeding can also occur.

Joint Injection is another popular treatment for the pseudogout. In this type of treatment the doctor will inject the injection to take out some joint fluid. The doctor then injects corticosteroid to reduce the pain and inflammation. There after anesthetic can be injected into the affected joints to numb the ailing joints.

Hemochromatosis or joint trauma due to the iron overload can be the reason for some of the pseudogout cases. In such cases the doctors try to treat the problem of hemochromatosis to treat the pseudogout.

Proper resting is important for the pseudgout patients. Proper resting helps in relieving the pain and swelling. The doctor must prescribe the patients to limit the daily activities. You should keep in mind that the problem of the pseudogout can be prevented and controlled as long as the doctor finds out the suitable medications for you. If you are suffering from pseudogout then you must consult your doctor about the proper medication and food diet plans.
